Decom Energy, Heerema Marine Contractors and AF Offshore Decom have combined to launch Fairfield Decom.
Decom Energy, Heerema Marine Contractors and AF Offshore Decom have combined to launch a new company called Fairfield Decom.
The new company, which aims to be the leading North Sea decommissioning operator, is subject to the approval of the Norwegian Competition Authority. Fairfield Decom will be headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, and will provide its customers with direct access to the expertise and assets of all three companies.
“We have built a strong business relationship with Heerema and AF Offshore Decom as contracting partners in the Dunlin topsides removal and as alliance partners for integrated decommissioning business opportunities,” Graeme Fergusson, managing director of Fairfield Decom, said in a company statement.
“The three companies have unrivalled experience in decommissioning and there is great alignment in terms of our responsible approach to business and our core values,” he added.
Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven, Heerema CEO, said Heerema is proud to be part of the “unique new venture”.
“Three leaders in the global decommissioning market have joined forces, providing a smarter, cost-effective and more sustainable approach to decommissioning and recycling offshore structures,” he said in a company statement.
Bengt Hildisch, managing director of AF Offshore Decom, said AF Offshore Decom is very pleased to collaborate with partners “who are aligned with our goals”.
“The establishment of Fairfield Decom represents an important step change in the decommissioning business model,” he added.
Fergusson is one of the four founders of Decom Energy and was appointed managing director of the business in 2016. He played a “pivotal role” in the process of establishing Fairfield Decom with Heerema and AF Offshore Decom, according to Fairfield Decom’s website, which states that he is directly accountable for the day to day management of the business.
